Really? Ideology still has this problem?
Typically when starting a new game I'll just load up a simple, fluid Ideology that isn't too much right out of the gate. Well this time I wanted to do a tribal start with a pretty in depth religion. I get pretty much done, scroll back and see 'Oh, the structures will be Corunan. I think with this Pantheon, I'd like to go Sophian.' *clcik* All my work I put into this religion gets completely wiped away and randomized... WHY!? Why does changing one setting IN A MENU MEANT FOR CHANGING SETTINGS revert EVERY OTHER SETTING??

And before someone says 'there's a mod for that.' No, I am intentionally playing without mods right now, and even so, that's no excuse. I love RimWorld, my playtime and Thrumbo and Boomrat plushies on my desk should say that much, but that doesn't mean I won't call out a bad design that should have been fixed within the previous 2 DLCs being added. I know this has been an issue people have had since Ideology dropped.

Yeeeeeeeep. Not really much more to say beyond that, except that it's stupid and makes no sense.

Ideology system still sucks in so many ways it's an embarrassment. They don't seem inclined to improve it at all so a dumpster fire it'll remain forever.

You can lock the names of buildings and rituals so they don't get changed, but it's really dumb that it isn't the default.

I never had this problem when setting up the ideology. Only sometimes when i reform them - actually only one time, when i changed the general name, to see what the random result would be with the new meme.

Sometimes it´s that way that they would say "no ideology surroundings" after reforming, which is sad, but usually a reload fixes it. What somehow doesn´t work any more is that the haircuts and beards wouldn´t be exclusive to the ideology at the cosmetic station.

I mean all in all the fluid ideology is only good for adding memes later on to somehow "develop" it - what doesn´t work is changing the cultures and stuff, because it would mean You need to rebuild certain stuff, as the design wouldn´t automatically change to the new culture, if You want to go from tribal to rural to astropolitan - even if the names would be no problem.

And in general the memes and the ideologies themselves are rather only to make the game either easier or harder. They don´t really add much depth to the game. Like no clothing restrictions is easy, and any clothing restriction is harder, but in game it doesn´t make much of a difference except that You would have certain bodyparts covered, while You cover everything anyways if You don´t play nudists, while even the nudists are fine enough with clothing - so it´s only important for the prisoners. Multiple spouses don´t really work, because of the bed thingy. Nobody is interested in the last name of the people. Etc. It´s all roleplay fluff, while some memes and precepts are clearly superior, and others are clearly bad - and for some odd reason mixed ideologies also don´t really work, as the AI factions usually choose all the bad memes and precepts, which don´t work with anything else.

Let´s say it´s not really fleshed out, besides the problem. But it´s nice to get some easy mood buff for certain easy to get or to have things. Basically only the raider meme adds something to the gameplay - like going on a raid, or else You have a mood debuff, while these raids aren´t really sustainable - to make up for the work speed debuff. But it adds to the gameplay instead of taking away from it, or only provide buffs which You otherwise would miss out on, which is how all the other memes work - except for the four which basically do nothing. Five even if we add in collectivist and agree that one doesn´t really press the button for the work thingy, as the two other leader abilities are superior and they all share the same cooldown... And one has to say that one doesn´t even need to pick the raider meme for the precept, so there´s like no difference in picking the supremacist meme, which makes it optional. Probably not really fleshed out...

Donno which is better or if they are the same.

Either way I too freaking hate the way it all rerolls.

With mine, I discovered that you can "cheat" by toggling it on before creating an ideoligion, and it gives you a totally blank state for the one you create.
Think that's one of the main issues with Rimworld is that you can't have issues with something or else the fanbase will get on you, until the fanbase itself wears down around the rather half assed DLC features that they abandon for the next DLC. I love Rimworld and all, been a kickstart backer since the game was barely recognizable, but without modders to do all the hard work to clean these things up this game would be worse tenfold.

If you're not saving changes as you go along, especially if you know of an issue existing then that is entirely on you. I've also never had it to where changing styles reverts all changes.

Either way, saving as you go is Common Sense 101.
