Help. Hay wlll not deposit into shelves.
Help. Hay will not deposit into shelves.

My farm animals are starving.
When I played this game a tear ago. I was able to build shelves and place them into a "barn". And then, prioritise Hay food for the animals. Which belong to and are allocated within an enclosed farm

Now; this does not work for me. I set the shelves to prioritise food in Hay. Over anywhere else. For drop off.
My pawns WILL NOT deposit to these shelves.

It seems that all food, can not be shelved anymore. Only 'other items' can now.

Does anyone know an alternative way to store food in a barn for my animals to have easy access to eating?

I am growing Hay on the land inside the farm. At least. But; I am not sure if my animals are actually grazing it from the land or not.

Make sure fresh is allowed and the shelf is higher priority. Shelves work fine for food if setup correctly.

Are you using any mods?

Are you sure you selected the shelf and enabled it to gold hay/food and disabled it for holding any thing else?

Do your pawns have restricted zones? maybe the shelf or hay is outside of their allowed area?

You can just make a storage zone on the ground within the barn.
If you are worried about the hay rotting, then make a little freezer with an animal flap entrance.

No mods.

Yes and yes.

And I have the zone set as HOME zoning on the farm.

I will double check if 'fresh'. I think it is already. But, I will double check.

An alternative, just in case I have a game bug. Thanks.

This might sound stupid but just checking all boxes here, but do you have any colonosts set to haul and if so have it set to priority? I know that could play a factor in it as well.

I usually build an extra freezer next to the animal pen with the only thing stored in there is hay, I will turn everything else disallowed and make sure no other storage space stores hay. So in cold snaps I can open the door that leads to animal pen open and the animals go and eat when cold snap over and their pen growns food again I can close the door and build the hay storage back up. Normally I grow hay on the other side of that freezer with a door to the growing field so quick hauling to the freezer. In the pens I grow danilions as that grows quicker for them to eat from the ground. Can also replace a door with animal flap if you want perm enterance for the animals

Very interesting.

Go to that shelf, clear all, then set priority to critical and set only hay. THen check if your freezer accepts all food, which would include hay.
