Workshop VS Nexus?
I feel fairly stupid, I just found out Rimworld has a Nexus. Does anyone know if modders and users have any tangible benefit to using one over the other? I always felt that if a game had a workshop, it didn't need a Nexus but maybe I'm missing some key info.

For RimWorld there is no real reason to not have a mod on the workshop other than if it breaks the Steam rules,

Non steam users such as those who purchased it on GOG is a completely valid reason to have mods outside the workshop.
You can download Steam mods without owning Steam e.g. through websites and a lot of modders use github for bug reports or download even if they have a Steam workshop entry.

Steam workshop downloader exists and is a completely valid way of downloading mods. Developers can completely disable third party workshop downloads in their steamworks settings. So it is allowed by steam given the developers permission has been enabled.
For the longest time, Tynan had it disabled and didn't realize it for years after release but he did eventually turn it on.

Reread what you quoted there. What you said in response doesn't really have any relevance to what I said.

Not the point. You said there is no reason to have mods outside the workshop. I disagree. Cool story though.

You're twisting their words, they said that there is no reason to not have them uploaded on Steam workshop. Not that there's no reason to upload them outside of Steam workshop.

Since we're on the subject, someone said there are a lot more mods on Ludeon's forums. So have a lot of modders just never migrated over here? I don't think I have a Ludeon account and probably won't make one (I REALLY don't need yet another account that Google is going to tell me is compromised in a year) but I'm wondering how much is being isolated in that little pocket of the Internet.

The forums are a great place to find mods, but it's also a bit of a mess that's difficult to navigate and the mods you find are highly often outdated. Most modders that actually *care* about getting their mods installed are here on the workshop. The big thing with here is a single box check pretty much ensures you're finding only what's compatible with your particular version.

You're not at all lacking on mods if you stick sorely with the workshop.

Awesome, very good to know. Thanks!
