It’s because Rimworld is a sandbox game, all the obstacles are destructible, meaning cover is made and breaks itself constantly, that’s why I have layered walls, so I can command my units around a ruined city, I’m probably gonna shell the city before I even go there just like real wars
Now granted, I’ve never played any men of war games in my life, but I assume their not as open ended as rimworld is.
I want that dynamic destruction that creates new paths and closes others, like for instance my tanks, most of the time they can just drive down the streets, but what if theres a better flanking position by going through a wrecked building?
I just wanted to fight in a dynamic environment in an era style, and rimworld has so many combat mods it feels like the best way to do it
TL:DR
The sandbox style of rimworld makes combat feel more dynamic and fun to me
As for Rimworld, dev mode can trigger instant raid events. Mood offset can be setup in game to ignore some needs, though don't think I've seen a mod to get rid of needs completely, though there are some to rebalanced it some. There's also a phenotype that prevents pawns from mind breaking while drafted.
If you looking for Mods that goes well with it, there is the Dead Man Switch mod, these one are the Superior mechanoids in my opinion, you got infantry, you got mechs, you got tanks, you got Real, Genuine transport, the IFV and APC that can drive themselves without needing an organic driver.
Not enough bandwitdth to control more legions? There is the basic hounds and verling bird that does not require bandwidth but can equip simple smg weapon and grenades. and you can make tons of them, just be prepared to replace those lost though, components are expensive stuff.
Simple drones that doesnt require bandwidth like that, they dont last long outside of the colony though, took a day or two and they run out of battery. if you are super rich, maybe you can drop them in from a transport pod when your main force arrive to attack other peoples city.
If you are looking for more firepower, the big, hulking ape which you can create relatively early in the game can carry autocannon and HMG. Not enough power? make hand held mortar or swarm launchers, send those through drop pods so they can have some disposable weapons as if its helldivers. haha
Logistics in maintaining the army and you hungry pawn is nightmare you say? There is escort lifters, that can be equipped with cargo racks or armor plating, for colony, you have tiny drones literally called trash bin, solve all your cleaning and plant cutting needs. hauls stuff too. DMS pretty much have everything you could have to RP as the Supreme Commander.
But since you seem determined, here you go:
Rimworldwar 2
Combat Extended(if you can sort out compatibility)
Achtung[IMPORTANT]
Industrial Fortifications
Vanilla Expanded Security
Charactor Editor, unlike prepare carefully you can screw with your pawns at any time, and you can easily copy pawns and spawn a bunch of them[IMPORTANT]
Rimcities
Larger Faction bases
CASEVAC
If you want a challenge, CAI5000
Also enable dev mode, you can spawn enemies and disable mental breaks.[IMPORTANT]
I will say, I have done what you are attempting to do before, and it works....ok. No other game has quite the same sandbox aspect with easy customization combined with it's somewhat interesting combat system.
