"And they wonder why so many go elsewhere ."
No I don't think they wonder at all. In fact, I'm willing to bet they don't care. Do you understand how discounts work? Businesses do discounts for many reasons but commonly tend to be because either they are strapped for cash or overloaded on inventory and need to offload it quick. In the cash of digital content, its to drive up sluggish sales on an older piece of software.
Ludeon isn't strapped for cash and a digital product doesn't run out of inventory. They must not have much of a problem with sales because they are fairly consistent that their games are as popular and thus worth nearly as much as when they released.
If the game isn't worth full price to you, then don't buy it. Stop running to the steam forums to inform the rest of us how unfair it is.
Maybe you could be less biased replying to people who think the game has an economic issue rather than saying everything's flowers and rainbows? Have you even looked through the hundreds (hell maybe thousands) of posts made about this specific matter?
This change came recently after so many people asked why they were stealing code and ideas from mod creators aswell as making the TPS bloated with bad re-coding.
Do you think anyone believes a single word you are saying? Do YOU even believe what you are saying?
Wow, understatement of the century. You mean to tell me that the creator of the game wants to make as much money as he can on his product and that it sells enough volume that he doesn't need to discount it to attract more customers?
In the last 30 days he's sold 30,000 or more copies of just the base game equaling almost $1 million in sales. He's sold over 3.8 million copies of the game totaling over $100 million in sales of just the base game since the game released.
He doesn't need to discount it. 1-2 months of sales alone is enough to pay the entire salary of his team for a year.
Everything you "know" is opinion and tribal wisdom from you and the people who agree with you and nothing you've presented has been a shred of evidence to your claims.
This isnt about being a fanboy. Its about you and everybody else coming here crying about wanting the game to be 50% off and then getting butt hurt when everyone tells you to go away.
lol, you are saying IGN is some kind of reputable source of information?
They are literally the bad guy in stories about gaming journalism.
The entire point of a sale is to make more money, either by moving more units such that the lower profit is offset by the higher unit sales, or by attracting customers to your storefront where you make up the lower revenue on sale items by selling other things.
Not having better sales is either the opposite of wanting more money, or is an indicator that units are moving briskly enough that a deeper sale wouldn't help profitability. Either way, your statement is self-contradictory.
You don't have a leg to stand on. I don't need a clown award. You have no response to anything I've said. Its not bait, its pretty evident everything you've stated comes from an emotional response because you don't like the way the developer conducts his business.
Heres my unqualified totally conjectured not factual opinion on the matter. Tynan is not discounting his game like other developers do BECAUSE he's not a big time developer who wants to mass produce crap like every other publisher out there doing 50% off sales.
Rimworld is meant to be an enduring product not something you throw away after 60 hours before you wait a year and spend $50 on some watered down sequal. While your poor pot smoking couch surfing buddy picks up the original for 9.99 plus tax on a steam summer sale.
