Not sure what you mean by "update" though...explain?
By update I mean, let's say I have a fixed design for colonists' bedrooms and save it as a blueprint. Later I decide that all the dormitories should have a chest of drawers, and now I'd like to update the old blueprint. But I'll probably just have to create a new BP.
The term blueprint for the game is just the silhouette for a placed construction order.
What you are calling a blueprint sounds like it's a mod added feature. You should specify the mod you're even using for that if you want anyone to be able to help you with that. And also post on the mod's page where you are more likely to get a response from someone who uses the mod.
