Found a good use for the war queen during final Anomaly raid
During the ending horror mega raid in Anomaly, having found little use for this seeming boondoggle until then, I tried simply parking it outside my walls and repeatedly spawning war urchins, recruiting them so they didn't stray just yet but instead accumulated until the mama hog ran out of steel to make more.

I then kept her recruited so she'd stay put but un-recruited all the urchins, setting them loose. What I expected was to create a minor nuisance for the stragglers outside my walls, numbering a few dozen. After blood rain did nothing to them and summon fleshbeasts was only marginally efffective,

I didn't expect much...only for them to absolutely ravage everything, sweeping across the regions outside my walls like a horrid swarm of hornets. Against enemies with proper firearms they're not much, I have no trouble dispatching them myself. But against Anomaly critters who are almost all unarmored melee opponents, war urchins punch well above their weight. I wish I knew how well that tactic would work earlier, I might've spared my walls a lot of post-raid repairs.

Just to be clear, you used them to pick off the lonely entities roaming around, and not the actual raids or metalhorrors ?

Mostly, except for the ones surrounding the final unactivated void obelisk. I guess it's less surprising when framed that way but I never got any good use out of them in battle until then, so I was pleased. I was always using them offensively, hampered by the cooldown instead of prepared defense, where that's not an issue.

Yeah, they are great, the micromanagement is what keeps me from using them.

But they are very similar to shamblers, they create a lot of (hard to hit) targets that can save your pawn's lives, and they aren't toothless either, those tiny shots hurt if you got enough of them.

I recently underestimated a raid of 250 militors, lost my godlike psycaster and most of my colony was wrecked thanks to a simultaneous raid happening as I was recovering from their damage.

250 little mechs are FAR, FAR more dangerous than the usual big ones like centipedes, I imagine the little urchins are no different, if you can get enough of them.
