"Annoying Voice" + "Beautiful"
I rescued a pawn that joined my colony for being rescued, and her burning passion trait is "social", and she has the traits "annoying voice" and "beautiful".

Hoping someone who understands the under-the-hood game stats and mechanics well could tell me if those two combined is a net penalty or a net gain to her social skills? I mean, I'm going to use her either way, but I am curious.

I'd just check her info panel but right now she's badly wounded and unconscious, so all of her stats are abysmal.

Aren't those just social things? So you can get the values from checking what your other pawns think of them in social tab.

They would have an impact on the social skills too. Wardening, trading, child-raising, etc.
It has no impact on their ability to trade, teach kids or handle prisoners/entities. It does increase the opinion of other pawns towards them by a considerable amount so they are less likely to be insulted or slighted by most pawns.

beautiful is a double edged sword though. just by itself it increases the occurace of "rebuffed" due to the increase of likability

I assume you are talking about Beautiful, and not both, because I know (almost} for sure that annoying voice affects the wardening and trading. The wiki says so.

So you're basically telling me for her actual skills, all she has is negatives, because beautiful doesn't help with it at all?
The trait "annoying voice" itself reduces the pawn's market value, and if it affects their trading ability or wardening skills then beautiful will counteract that completely.

It's just -25 opinion from other people, and -20% market value on the pawn if you were to sell them to slave traders. The -25 opinion has a slight effect effect on some wardening actions, reduce resistance looks at skill, mood, and opinion of the warden. However the effect is not noticeable IME, and wardens also "build rapport" with prisoners which greatly increases opinion which can completely negate any other opinion maluses.

There's no effect on trading, conversion, rituals, or anything else I can think of that uses the social skill.

The beautiful trait is +40 opinion, so the net result of the pawn would be +15, so as far as relationships or wardening go, they would be better than a normal unenhanced pawn.

OH! Jeezus, I was an idiot. I read "market value" on the wiki and my brain interpreted that as trading prices. But now that you spell it out for me, I do realize that "market value' is not what Rimworld calls trading efficiency. :steamfacepalm:

Thank you for the very direct answer, it's all clear to me now.

I figured this was mostly bunk but was waiting on Astasia to pop up. Glad I'm not crazy. The game can be a bit hard to penetrate system wise though, understandable mistake.

Asking this question here turned out to be helpful with my newest situation in the game. I have one child in my colony with a burning passion for Social as well, and she just got a Flesh Whip mutation.

Because of this thread, I was able to quickly realize it would not effect her social skill tasks. So you helped me with not just one, but two questions!

Edit: Jeezus, and now one of my pawns just got "Staggeringly Ugly", upon recovering from the plague.

When it rains it pours.

Wait, since when is that a thing that can happen?

A small chance to gain a trait after something "significant' occurs to a pawn is one of the additions to the game made by the Vanilla Social Interactions expanded mod.
