Devourers
How do people deal with them
Everything else I can handle well enough but it doesn't matter how tanky my people are if they just get eaten

Focus fire the devourers that eat your people, that never failed me.

They tend to die more easily when they get shot at/cut at when they're digesting your people, in my experience.

the moment they eat someone just deal enough damage to either kill or down it. There's no other way around it unless you hide behind a wall that lets you shoot out(modded).
Cause they are at least described to be Massive

Throw flares to stun them, that trivializes them.

Fire also works great on them and causes them to vomit out anyone they've eaten. They tend to group so you can just berserk them and they'll waste a ton of time attacking each other. Fodder troops like animals also waste a ton of their time, as they only deal around 1 damage per second with their stomach so you'll have lots of time.

They also get shredded by armor piercing turrets. They aren't great at breaking turrets or walls, as their attack damage is actually pretty low, only around 4 damage per hit.

Note that once they jump, you cannot stun them or otherwise target them, so either be ready to jump out of the way or hit them before they do.

Buy a Diabolous in the mech store and vaporize burn them....or get Hellcat rifles and burn them....or shot them in the head

Don't try to tank them with colonists

Shamblers work fine

This is the way.

Let shamblers fight them. Let the devourers strenghten your ever-growing shambler army.

Always interesting to see what other people are having difficulties with. For me personally, the only entity I fear is the golden cube o.o

The cube had practically zero effect on my colony. I had one colonist lose a small amount of productivity for a few days, and that was it.

What am I missing?

Beckon causes devourers to spit out their meal. Haven't tried vertigo yet. I have not added any patches to the DLC though.

Let them eat cake! And by cake I mean your legion of Militors fighting them in a field of fire as your colonists toss flares and blow them away with assault rifles from 30 tiles away

Maybe it's the fact that I have 15 colonists all equipped with charge lances but I never had anyone get eaten. I always killed the devourers before they got close enough. So I guess just use more colonists or better weapons because they die pretty quick for me.

As for the cube comment it scared me too. One colonist that became obsessed started making scrap sculptures to honor the cube or whatever and were in a state that I could not control them. Freaked me out so much I had my other colonists knock him out to stop him and the first thing I catch him doing after he recovered was and I quote "playing with the cube" I don't like when my colonists start acting crazy lol.

Mine made a few sculptures and played with it some, but it made them happy and filled their recreation bar. It seems about the same as reading a book, or using a telescope to me.

It sure seems a lot safer then hiring a pawn with chemical fascination, and that never bothered me. Just give them a beer a day or a cube a day, and call it good.

For devourers early game I keep a few slaves to throw their way, same for revenant. Mid to late game I have one long corridor leading to my base. Devourers come in nice little conga line. Stun or berserk lead devourer and he will block others from advancing then just keep firing down the corridor.
