They tend to die more easily when they get shot at/cut at when they're digesting your people, in my experience.
Cause they are at least described to be Massive
Fire also works great on them and causes them to vomit out anyone they've eaten. They tend to group so you can just berserk them and they'll waste a ton of time attacking each other. Fodder troops like animals also waste a ton of their time, as they only deal around 1 damage per second with their stomach so you'll have lots of time.
They also get shredded by armor piercing turrets. They aren't great at breaking turrets or walls, as their attack damage is actually pretty low, only around 4 damage per hit.
Note that once they jump, you cannot stun them or otherwise target them, so either be ready to jump out of the way or hit them before they do.
Shamblers work fine
Let shamblers fight them. Let the devourers strenghten your ever-growing shambler army.
What am I missing?
As for the cube comment it scared me too. One colonist that became obsessed started making scrap sculptures to honor the cube or whatever and were in a state that I could not control them. Freaked me out so much I had my other colonists knock him out to stop him and the first thing I catch him doing after he recovered was and I quote "playing with the cube" I don't like when my colonists start acting crazy lol.
It sure seems a lot safer then hiring a pawn with chemical fascination, and that never bothered me. Just give them a beer a day or a cube a day, and call it good.
