Possible Bug: Cube Obsession persisting due to biosculpting pod
Hey fellow war crime enthusiasts,

So I thought I'd be clever with destroying the golden cube - I put two of the cube obsessed colonists in biosculpting pods before doing it. One of them came right out and needed to be beaten into submission but the other stayed inside, not losing their cube obsession status effect.

They have now come out the pod and are getting cube withdrawal as if still psychically linked. Is this a bug or the games way of punishing me for trying to be smart?

Thanks!

Dr S.

That is a feature of the cube, if colonists can't play with the cube they start going through withdrawal, it goes away with time.

Destroying the cube removes cube obsession. But it doesn't if they are frozen via cryosleep or biosculptor pods, which this post is about..

But isnt destruction supposed to free them of it?

Weirdly it did for one of my colonists but not the other - it forced one of them to come out the pod to rage until they got punched to sleep

No, if the cube is destroyed or removed from the map, they will suffer withdrawal. It passes with time. You also shouldn't be able to destroy the cube without mods or debug

You can if you use a shard after finishing the research - it is supposed to send people into a rage who love the cube but one of my colonists was left out that party... Pretty sure this is a bug?

Yeah the same happened to me, put them in cryptosleep and they ended up going mad after the cube was removed, even though removing the cube is supposed to free them. Everyone that wasn't in cryptosleep never went mad, everyone else did.

I'm pretty sure they didn't even have the cube obsession in health tab either, the obsession just resurrected at some point to give them withdrawal, so it's probably a bug

Might use debug to get rid but imagine if I just wait he will come out of his come and be reset

I wish people wouldn't post things like they're fact when they don't actually know what they're talking about. Like many of the Anomaly entities, studying the cube eventually turns up a way to destroy it to end the psychic link, which is what this thread is about.

Re: OP, biosculpting probably screwed you up since it preserves your colonists in a kind of stasis, preventing the flag from being removed. Personally I just ordered the relevant colonists anaesthetised before destroying the cube and that worked fine.

Definitely is buggy. I had 3 colonists obsessed. I put them in the pod before disabling the cube. 2 of them went into rage and got out of the pod. The one who stayed in the pod still has obsession now after the cube was destroyed. I have a lot of mods, so maybe that caused the issue, and not the base game. But it is definitely a bug.
