Sure, but they will continue to burn until the fuel runs out. Which is several days of being too hot if they had just been refueled. I see no reason to leave them around for 3 out of 4 quadrums where they won't be in use.

Lacking a "put out fire" action (without mods), your best bet is probably to put the fireplace in a central, small room with opened doors acting as vents.

Then if it gets too hot, you can close them and reduce its effect on surrounding rooms until it naturally burns out.

You get used to it - Some of us play Medieval locked games, where ACs and Vents never become a thing. Nor natural freezers for food outside of winter.

Speaking of that, I obviously also don't have cold storage for food. I've managed it fine, given that the growing season is 3 out of 4 quadrums, but meat spoils really quickly. Is there any options for dealing with that? Other than the obvious one of spreading out your meat acquisition when you can (or not using meat at all).

You can use torches instead of campfires to avoid slept in the heat or particularly complex venting systems. Torches have a max heat of 23C which is below "slept in the heat" while campfires get up to 28C which is slightly too hot. Campfires are only slightly more efficient in wood use. Torches push 3.5 heat at 2 wood per day, campfires push 21 heat at 10 wood per day. Torches double as light sources so there's a reason to keep them around all year, at least until electricity.

I totally forgot about the heat torches put out. That actually helps me understand why the two bedrooms that were getting too hot were doing so. There were no torches in the rooms, but there are more near them.
It also explains why my hospital stays warmer even without a campfire inside of it. There are multiple torches inside of it.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'm definitely going to use that. I don't care about the fuel burn rate as I have more wood then I know what to do with.
thanks for the suggestions this has been very helpfull

If you are in a biome with plenty of wood: In addition to using a campfire/ torch to heat up a room (edited, because I didn't see that someone else had mentioned those), the https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Passive_cooler will try to cool the room to 17°C / 62°F . So you can mix&match to get a safe temperature & still be okay if there's a cold snap / heat wave.

alright thanks i put coolers set at 21c hopefully that will help
Coolers cool only one side, and output heat on the other. Setting it to 21C only works if it’s summer, where the rooms may be hot, as then the coolers will attempt to bring the temperatures down. The rooms are already cold, so you need a heater to bring things up. Switch them on and off depending on the season/needs of the room, unless you have a freezer, in which case that is always set to -5C.
