Ghouls, the ultimate anti-mechanoid weapon
Ghouls. Cheap to make. Cheap to revive. Cheap to feed. Almost certainly cheap to run on your processor.

Swarms of melee attackers that feel no pain and quickly get into position? Goodbye mechanoids, hello corpse freezer ghouls barracks combination!

I can't wait to have an outside access bay full of dead heads with a button that controls the door inside. RELEASE THE SWAAAARM!

I'm assuming we have some degree of control over them, such as being able to restrict them to specific zones. I can honestly see stuffing a few into anomaly chambers and prisons as guards.

They're not much more than fodder, but because their AI isn't looking for things to do or path to, they're going to be really easy on our processors. This way they can hold down the fort if things get crazy until actual soldiers can show up.

Not to mention that swarm mechanics are actually Really effective at killing a lot of things. Three or four ghouls are going to tear a centipede apart in a fight. The only reason I avoid swarms personally is for my poor tps.

Ooo if you can zone them I'm going to have a "perimeter moat" of deadies at the readies.

think about it, combine ghouls and shamblers, making our very own undead army

But what if the Mechanoids send Insectoids against ghouls? OAO

Look, there's going to be meat afterwards and that's what's important. Insect meat, ghoul meat, or mechanoid steel isn't a detail to get caught up on.

You can revive ghoul meat, feed ghouls insect meat, or build more guns with the mechanoid meat.

Win/win/win
