RimWorld

Starvation issue since 1.5
After 1.5 my colonists REFUSE to eat and occasionally refuse to sleep. These happen without mental breaks (but cause breaks later obviously). No amount or work prioritization seems to fix it. Suggestions for a fix? (playing vanilla)

Vanilla could be restricted diet. If your pawn doesn't like or won't eat an ingredient in a meal they won't eat. Not sleeping could be an area issue or bed type not set to colonist. Make sure it isn't set to medical prisoner or slave. Make sure colonist zone is set to unrestricted.

I checked all the basics. Unfortunately the cause seems to be something that can’t be found so easily.

Experiencing the same issue. Notable variation, my colonists will choose to go to bed, even when they are badly starving and food is available.

Areas are accessible, I've tried dropping food on the floor from shelves. The bug seems to happen across different levels of food restrictions (e.g. my pig xenos eating #raw keto starve, and so do my baseliners on simple meals). I've drafted and undrafted to clear the cache to no avail.

The first colonist to suffer a breakdown from this had a sad wander, where he pulled a simple meal out of his inventory, went to a table, and ate it after starving himself into a -20 mood.

I'm able to force them to consume meals still, but the colony is unable to run itself if they can't decide when to take a lunch break.

This sounds like a mod issue from what you are describing.

As stated, I am not using mods.

Are you manually ordering work? does your colony have any food restrictions? Are you using the work schedule? Is it colonists on longer jobs like 4x cooking or mining?

Colonists refuse to autonomously eat any food that contains their revered animal(s). This was alluded to in the first reply, but it's often overlooked and is the cause of most threads like this.

I am using mods, and am anticipating it could be a conflict in porting from 1.4 to 1.5. I've combed through my save's modlist with RimPy to fix some texture issues. This seems to be the next hurdle. Haven't tried a new colony with this modlist to see if issue persists.
