the Darkness is great and awful
Hate managing areas? here is one more! enjoy!
What? do you want pathfinding that prioritize lit tiles? ahaha

It wiped out my colony (because I was heavily dependent on solar energy). Unfortunately it was my first time encountering it so I didn't really appreciate the warning notifications.

That happened to me as well, but I just put up wooden torches and campfires everywhere and turned off the power to everything except the research bench while I researched geothermal.

I was able to pull through since I had 3 Turbines set up already. Building out into the darkness was a lot of fun. Run out there and place a torch real quick, and then push forward a little bit. Fortunately, I had marked the locations of the thermal vents when I first planned my base.

unless you are living in sea ice biome, there is zero reason why you would run any other power sources other than geothermal or wood/chemfuel generators.

the darkness don't attack raiders and insects. It most likely only attacks your pawns
Veylox Apr 27, 2024 @ 8:38pm
You don't really need more areas. You just light up your base with the new floodlights and use the base area.

Darkness shouldn't last anyway, draft everyone and remove it within a day or two, no zones required

Toxifiers are way better than wood and chemfuel

Honestly you get so much clean, renewable energy from bioferrite generators that even geothermal is largely irrelevant. It's so easy to stockpile a glut of shards too since you can just summon small anomaly raids for shards every 5 days, so they're not even prohibitively expensive.

You don't use bioferrite for rituals/IEDs ?

Or do you just have dozens of contained entities to make up for the generators ?

It's only 6 bioferrite for 4000w, that's just a couple of entities each. It's honestly really easy to keep like 30 or so entities contained. You can snag like 4 or 5 per raid and then upgrade/replace them as you go.

There's a huge material benefit to snagging a bunch of entities.

Generator? Bioferrite.
Weapons? Bioferrite.
Armor? Bioferrite.
Furniture? Bioferrite.
Breakfast? Bioferrite.
Toilet? You guessed it: Bioferrite.

Solar Pinhole

I feel like this anomaly was created to give this psycast more potential.

could have happened to me too a while ago
recently I am using more and more chemfuel because its so much more space efficient

Indeed, I had created some floodlights when the warning came and then just added 3-4 pinholes to light the path to every column
