Ideology ancient complex
Hi there,

I've done a couple of this ancient complexes and I find them more and more annoying by the minute. How do you work with the fire bombs that turn a room into an inferno? So far, I can only think of destroying doors instead of opening and trying to get some roof deconstructed as thankfully whenever I've encountered those it's always raining.

A sufficiently skilled builder can deconstruct them before they explode. Otherwise it's a good idea to break walls/doors like you're doing and make sure that there's always an open pathway to the outside to prevent the air from becoming super heated.

If you can get them, bring firefoam pop packs or someone with the waterskip psycast.

In most cases you can just skip rooms with explosive barrels in them, so if you spot them go around them.

All the main loot in the complexes is in fireproof containers. The only reason you need to fight the fires is if you want to remove the carpets for thousands of cloth. Break/deconstruct a wall to make the room outside, shoot/trigger the bomb, move onto the next room while the fire burns out. Open the crates after.

Some of the quest terminals might burn, if you are headed in for a quest I would bring some source of firefoam as mentioned. That would be the logical thing to do. I just fight the fires the hard way because I'm too stubborn to remember to bring my firefoam. Wont have to do this often though.

I just open rooms until I find a node, and if it's an important room i'll shoot doors/walls until it's considered outside. I don't deal with the fire at all, I let it burn and by the time I did what I had to do on the map the fire has died down enough to access whatever crate it was trying to burn

They usually won't go off if you just open the door, just don't let anyone walk in the room. Bash down walls to prevent temperature buildup. Tedius is all ancient complexes ever are. Decent source of luciferium if boring.

Also, there are 3 types of them.

One type ignites as soon as you enter the room, and then explodes after about 10 secs. For these I will back out of the room and start shooting out the walls opposite the room to make the area open to the outside. Then once it explodes, I will shoot out a wall of the room and add it to my home zone and undraft everyone to allow them to put out the fire without scalding.

The next type is on a timer and will go off after a few hours. It shows a countdown on the right of the screen. You can claim and deconstruct it after killing all the enemies.

The last type is tied to the security crates. It can be claimed and deconstructed after all the enemies are dead. Just deconstruct them before opening the security crates.

Firefoam backpacks?
Water Skip psycast?
Even grenades can be used to aoe put out fire.

I don't own royalty so psycasts are not an option, whatever they are :)

Everything else seem like good ideas. Although I have to admit that for what they give, these missions don't seem worth doing.

You can use a mod to adjust that, if you like.

The rewards are random. You can get archotech bionics, ancient captives, luciferium, uranium, packaged survival meals, or any number of other things. Sometimes an ancient complex is a treasure trove, sometimes they're a waste of time, and usually they're okay and have a few nice things.

For all that is in the list 90% of what you get will be uranium. It's weighed way too heavily towards uranium.

For the most part, visiting a single early ancient complex is going to be pretty underwhelming, and it's often true the most valuable thing you can extract from them are the carpets for loads of cloth. The complexes scale up though and are a pretty common event with practically no danger in most cases. When you are opening like 15 crates in a single complex, you start averaging a pretty decent haul of things like luciferium and advanced components, with other occasional goodies like archotech parts thrown in. It's never amazing, but it's practically free.

That mod is a bit misleading these days. Most of the stuff it says it adds to the ancient complex drop pool were already added to the unmodded drop pool, it's mostly just diluting the pool with mod drops and some "less valuable" drops. I used to use it for a while in the early ideology days, but I personally think it's a loot "downgrade" at this point, or at best a side grade. Like it removes the big advanced component drops from the big crates and replaces it with a number of things that are technically less valuable or easier to get, like techprints. I'm going to take 8 advanced components over a poison synthesis techprint any day of the week. =P

All the other good stuff, archotech bionics, vanometric power cells, healer mech serums, those all still drop from the unmodded crates at similar rates as in that mod.

Also worth noting for anyone curious. With 1.5 a lot of Anomaly items were added to the complex loot pools, so you can find turret packs, bioferrite, serums, shards, tomes, and the Biomutation thingies.

It does feel like that since uranium is so worthless when you find it, but it's actually not weighted higher than anything else and is actually weighted fairly low on the better crates.

Uranium is 0.5, advanced components are 1.0, quest rewards are 0.5 (archotech bionics, healer mech serum).

When I download and use a mod, or recommend it to others, I don't first go read through the original game code and then compare it to what the mod changes to see if it is accurate, since I am not a programmer. I just assume it does what is says on the label. I think this applies to most people as well, but I could be wrong.

I assumed as much and yes I think it's the same for most people, I wasn't criticizing you or your recommendation, I was just sharing my knowledge and preference in what was intended to be a friendly manor. Do what you will with that information.
