Rimworld do not utilize CPU to full ?
I have old cpu i7-6700k, which max speed should be 4.2GHZ, but overlay show that my max cpu speed is 3.8GHZ, and in late game i loose some TPS, which affect frame rate, but there are still should be 400 MHz to utilize.

So maybe someone know how to squeeze CPU to its limit ?

I am archlinux user and i use some sh1tty mainboard:

Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
Product Name: Q170M-C

the game has some multithreading, but the core game (mostly) is going to run on one core. there really isn't alot that can be done about that. there was a mod that kinda forced it to run on the full cpu, but it was buggy and had alot of compatibility problems. there are a few performance mods available, rocketman is the most popular and can help to a degree. there is another called performance fish that "feels" like its working better than rocketman, but its not in the workshop so you'll need to find and install it yourself.

you can also try and play within your cpu's capability. fewer pawns, fewer animals, smaller maps, less stuff laying around in storage and things like that. if you are playing with mods already, some are heavier than others. something that adds a new type of clothing is obviously less of an impact than something that is going to mess with pathfinding, like the hauling or locks mods.

Well i saw my cpu can still handle large amount of pawns and animals at second speed, but my god.. playing at second speed is so painfull, i wonder if anyone play at x1 ?

there are days i let the game run at x1 speed. takes so much stress off, no constant pausing rushing and teh likes

One does need to remember how long it's been since this game started development and it was started by such a small team. Multithreading wasn't as big a deal when development started and going back to work it in properly now is a MASSIVE undertaking. There've been some steps toward that over the years, most recently with the ( currently in testing on the Unstable branch ) 1.5 patch, but I wouldn't count on it ever being optimal.

I suppose another thing to keep in mind is Tynan never really counted on massive colonies early on when he was designing the game, just based on how much of a hassle it can be to manage once you get bigger than 15-20 colonists.

Yes. I like a relaxed early game.

Are you running mods? They generally add more overhead to your system.

I doubt that your CPU not hitting turbo boost limit is Rimworld's fault. Anyway, you can try to set power settings to maximum performance in OS setting, that might help.

Doesn't 1.5 sort of move creature rendering to a different thread or something of the like? That'll probably help.

Besides, almost no game can fully utilize all of the power of a modern PC.
