On the starting character menu if you click the Xenotype icon (the xeno name is also under this button) the list of all possible xeno's loaded should appear, the one you just loaded should be at the bottom of that list, designated as "Custom" Click that and select your custom Xeno if you wish to make any of your starting characters your custom Xeno.
If you're asking if you can load a custom xeno in an old game, I am not aware of any way to do that post game world creation, but if you add a mod that adds a new race, it will ask if you want to add a new faction in and spawn settlements of that specific faction.
I either misread what someone else said in that other thread, or perhaps they were just unclear.
I made a Rimdwarf xenotype and made all of my starting pawns dwarves, so I just wanted to make sure there would be a chance, no matter how small, of it showing up in the game. Sounds like I'm all set, as I already did what both of you indicated.
Good luck and no problem, I hope you enjoy accentuating on your own gaming experience through custom Xenos.
I'm not sure if its because I added another mod that added other crazy xeno's, genes, etc, but inspecting the gene's its the one I created for certain.
Yea, the ones that started showing up are custom made by me.
