Need some help with my garulean trees
So I accidentally connected one of my tree pruners to a third tree and I keep seeing people say that you can have three trees a pawn but any time I do more than 2 I get spread too thin and all the trees slowly die because the pawn can't keep up with their needs even though he is plants lvl 20 and passionate about it too. How do people get one pawn to care for 3 trees? I could just chop the third tree down and I do have spare seeds but I'd rather save them because I'm planning to make a second colony so I need spares for the new spot.

Field hand body part maybe? I'm guessing that you can maintain 3 in theory but I haven't done it in practice. I can't get a pawn with a field hand maintain 8/8 100% of the time. So I'm curious too.

darn I'll probably just have to kill it and deal with the massive mood debuff then or loose all 3 trees

You might need to modify their bed placement and make sure they can eat near the trees too. Cutting down any time wasting activities or travel will help.

Actually, I kept 6 trees in my last game with a mentally damaged blind pawn.

The trick is: pruning is not a normal task, the only things that matter, if I remember correctly, is your growing skill level, which will inevitably hit 20 if you just leave a pawn there doing it all day, and your GLOBAL workspeed.

This does not include the work speed boosts from from things like sight, manipulation, etc.. only flat mood boosts matter, I think being industrious can also help with that(?)

The neurotic ritual that makes everyone a bit moody, from anomaly is something I was constantly useing, I've even built a rage inducer close to the middle of my tree formation, and even with the penalty for having close buildings the pawn still could maintain them all at max level as it didn't need to sleep, or eat thanks to implants.

Pruning speed is affected by plant skill, tree connection ideology precept/meme and global work speed.

It does not seem to be affected by manipulation.

In other words - if you want a good pruning pawn - you want industrious and/or neurotic pawns.
Wake-up drug helps a lot as well.
Work drive ability from collectivist meme, or a boost from dance party/drum party rituals as well.

That being said - keeping a single tree on 100% should take a single pawn around 4 hours a day. With 6 point drop a day, a single pawn should be able to handle several trees at once... BUT this pawn will have to be dedicated to the trees pretty much the whole day.

Do keep in mind conciousness and manipulation don't effect tree pruning so stuff like a half cycler is a major boost to tree keeping, as does giving your tree keepers their own dining and rec area (or enslaving them) so they can stay on the trees longer. Bedroom should be beside their grove as well. You want to minimize how much they have to leave their trees and preferably find ways to simply remove needs. A slave with a nuclear stomach and a half cycler won't be stepping away from those trees for much.

Which is not a bad idea if he has a passion for growing, boosting his mood, a nuclear stomach, a half cycler, psychic sensitivity, is blinded, has a joywire, regularly keeps his psychophagy up and has a psychic harmonizer.

I mean: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3258559457
(Granted this isn't your usual effect, the target is a mechanitor with a lot of psychic sensitivity)

My only mistake was not planing for it ahead of time, thinking I wouldn't mess with gauranlean trees this time, if I had known I'd place them right int he middle of my base so people could move around the joy area all day keeping all moods permanently maxed, that's why I ended up making another lobotmized joyslave roaming around the base, hauling stuff.

But yeah, you can have a super productive pawn sitting there, all day, pruning trees with maxed out mood, spreading the joy with high sensitivity, taking care of most of the colony's hauling needs by himself.

thanks for all the advice guys I've got some ideas about how I could do it in the future now I'm doing a nature worship rp run with the tree supremacy meme for that extra strong connection with the dryads. MY pawn is a passionate planter at lvl 20 and he lives close by but I think his eating and hygiene needs (I use Dubs bad hygiene I highly recommend its a very useful mod that feels like a vanilla game mechanic expansion) were making him spend a ton of time going back and forth a lot taking up time. I used commands to kill the tree and spawn a replacement seed to fix my mess up but going forward I know what to do if I want to try and connect a third tree down the road. I've also got one of those farming cybernetics so that will come in handy eventually

I like how you guys go from talking about how to better prune your hippie trees right into making robotic cyborg body modded slaves with all their organs cut out or replaced while their minds are fried with happy drugs so you can harvest nature better. It kinds goes against the hippie commune tree hugger mentality that the meme is supposed to be biased on.

I created a communal tree and fire worshiping tribe that sacrifices our enemies to our pagan nature gods and burn them in holy wicker man burnings and duels of honor. We work more in tandem with animals rather than hunting them using mega fauna to guard our homes and groves and using the wool of the muffolo and alpaca to build our yurts. The mentality is that since we live off the land we owe our honor to it so we guard our trees and animal companions like our children and claim to be guardians of the forests.

we also will always provide charity even to our enemies as long as they mean no harm in that moment. That said we will still raid you a week later for raiding us last week when you didn't happen to need our help. It's this kinda psudo Celtic-Native american- Animist tribal cult. We wield tomahawks and long swords with round shields and have incredibly powerful long bows as well but love black powder fire arms.

Using modern weapons is kept to a minimum and use electricity purely for automated defenses, lighting and medical purposes and nothing else shunning all computers, tvs and luxuries it could provide.

we also consider all non renewable energy taboo so we only use solar panels and thermal vents for power. Theres also a big emphasis on community, and respect for the wise and brave such as elders and our greatest warriors and nobles. We call ourselves "The Wood Walkers"

I have never used Dubs and know very little about it but if it's just a list of extra needs someone needs to fulfill it's actually a huge nerf to Dryad cultivation. Need efficiency is so important for getting absolute legions from every single pruner.

Hippies gotta get with the times, heck you don't even need the meme to get good use out of dryads with the right planning in place for it. And hey, tree hippies worship the trees not people, people exist but to make the trees prosper yatta yatta grind all humans to mulch to feed the trees. Become the most efficient tree grower ever to truly uplift trees to glory or some such.

Not every depiction of nature lovers is soft and cushy.

we dont mulch them we burn them and use their ashes as fertizer and yea bad hygiene adds bathroom needs but it also adds a bunch of benifits to gameplay if you do it right high cleanliness from the mod means less infection and illnesses as well as adding things like showers that make you're colonists happy from being well bathed, as well as new recreation items and washing machines for removing the tainted effect from apparel and sauna's that reduce the odds of a heart attack.
