Prisoner Gene extraction; question
So for years now I've been extracting genes from prisoners with the gene extractor I had built in my gene lab. After extraction, a pawn has always gone to the lab and returned them to their cell.

...Until today. I had a prisoner escape. They just walked out the door. (It wasn't a prison escape event or anything, they just wandered off with no alert of any kind).

So, I realize I should have thought of that, a laboratory isn't a prison, so the doors are probably not 'locked' for prisoners. Just wondering if anyone can confirm that this is the case, or if this one escape was just an anomaly.

(I feel a little stupid for not realizing I should probably have an extractor in the prison.

All doors are locked to prisoners unless modded or unclaimed.

Interesting. I wonder how this one got out without the prison escape alert. I didn't see her escape until I noticed her (slowly) walking across the courtyard outside.
Probably walked through the door while it was open after a colonist, pet or bot.

Ahh, so that's a thing that can happen outside of prison areas then? It obviously cannot happen for cell doors, or I think I'd have seen it over the thousands of hours I have played.

Building an extractor in my prison hospital still makes the most sense if that is the case.

When prisoner ejects out of gene extractor it wanders off if your pawn does not escort it to the prison bed (cell).
For that particular reason i made it into smol room

@Tamm, yah, that is smart. I should have thought of it. I didn't, but I should have.

Now that I know better, I built an extractor in the prison hospital that I already had set up. Because that room is already considered a "prison barracks" I don't think they will wander off.

Yeah that can happen lol, forbid the door and get someone to put em back into their cell as soon as the extraction is done.

Build your extractors inside your Prison. Then they just wander back to their bed if they are capable of walking. Only real downside is the occasional tantrum and you may have to repair them afterwards.

Not sure what task Escorting them back after extraction is, but my wardens for whatever reason would refuse to do it as a priority (set to 1), and I got sick of micromanaging it. Just started building the extractors in my prisons and 1 less task to deal with.
