Wish we could cure ghouls :(
One of the first missions / goals I made for myself when playing the anomaly DLC for the first time was to cure my fellow researcher of their ghoulification status by researching and solving the mystery of the monolith. It would be the priority of my new research base to find a cure for the mysterious affliction plaguing my head 'researcher' (they had the perfect researcher background).

Come to learn that ... there's no cure :steamsad:

Which honestly made me a bit sad. I think this is a huge missed storytelling opportunity considering the very start of the Anomaly research expedition scenario has you start off narratively with one of your fellow researchers mutating. The natural response would be the desire to revert the affliction brought upon them through studying the process and the monolith and save your fellow man from the wicked dark mutation.

It sounds like it was a great storytelling opportunity, there just wasn't a happy ending.

Depending on your modlist, there are a few round about ways to go at this, but yes, base game DLCs, overwriting your DNA and identity with dark archotech is a one way trip.

Can you tell me more about these roundabout ways? Tell me your dark magics sorcerer.

Can you tell me what specific mods are needed? I'm looking for a solution to this question as well.

Not currently playing with Anomaly, but I know the V.O.I.D. storyteller generates a whole new faction with special implants, weapons and armour, tonsa new creatures too- N4 infected variants, basically mindless zombies that are way stronger than they look. They're infected with the Nerotonin virus or smth like that, but what's cool are these little blue pills that are abundant wherever you find V.O.I.D. members, they all carry some, cures literally anything.

It can cure dementia, paralytic abasia, asthma Luciferium addiction, even a missing kidney, arm or leg. I'd be curious if it could cure ghoulification, though the fact that ghouls and shamblers are both rotten makes me doubt it. Depends if the game sees being a ghoul as a sickness. If it does, those pills can fix it, god knows what'll happen afterwards.

Mods aside though, I figured it wouldn't be possible to cure them, given the rotten status of their bodies. The hosts are long gone, being a ghoul is the only reason they're still walking about.
