It's just not at all how the game and the starving mechanic works.
(As an actual old lady I can make this joke.)
we also had 20 attackers with sticks and stones we wellcomed with our selfcrafted miniguns...
and when you get en event and reload to a point before the event has triggered, you will notice, that another event will trigger at nearly the same time. at least, most of the time ^^
Breastfeeding takes a bit, but it would actually be somewhat hard to make the mother die even intentionally, let alone by accident.
Events and raids are not based on your research. Mostly depends on your colony wealth and number of colonists. This is not a matter of opinion. There is no such thing as "I have my facts and you have yours" as you seem to be arguing.
They always eat directly after breastfeeding, so it's never been an actual issue for me that's caused a mental break or death.
It's working as intended.
2) Research has nothing to do with random events like raids or cargo pods
3) You can't craft mortar parts because you didn't turn it on in the world settings.
You can mod the game yeah, but you don't even need a mod to change many of the problems you seem to be facing, as they are almost entirely adaptable in the settings or can be turned off entirely. Ontop of this, careful planning, learning from mistakes and finally "drama". Negative elements that bring a story together, no interesting story is entirely positive or negative, and you have the tools to make a weave of both.
and listen buddy, researching mortars doesnt "allow" new incidents to happen, they are not linked, ALL threats in this game are scaled off of a little mechanic known as colony wealth
you have lots of stuff? then surely you'll be able to deal with X. THAT is the games logic
ill give you the mortar parts one, it's a change made in late beta stages to encourage trade with factions and not just always turtling up forever, but it is changeable in the game settings and you can make them craftable :P
at the end of the day, it's what the game is, if you're unhappy about it, play a diffrent game. love it or hate it, not much will change it, unless you wana hunt thru the mod workshop that expands the game horizon inconceivably far. stop wining, learn how the game works if you think you'd enjoy it. we all did.
Reinforced barrels cannot be crafted in vanilla, only bought, no matter your mortar settings. You have the option of never needing to replace the mortar's reinforced barrel at the cost of mortar accuracy or have the option to have mortars need replacement after 20 shots for increased accuracy.
Too reiterate: You can never make reinforced barrels in vanilla. Only buy them.
Geez, I'd hate to see the accuracy of the mortar with the permanent barrel; I just used a 'regular' mortar on a defoliator ship and it took 23 shots to destroy the ship...
