I honestly think this game would be better to remain 2D for mod friendliness. All it really needs is Z levels and SOS2 style ship implementation and we got a perfect rimworld 2.
Closest I've seen for now.
Here's an idea man.
Just don't use Z levels if it has Z levels.
I know right ... booom ... big brain move
I bought the game. Sure feels a lot like Rimworld 3D, but so far I haven't "bonded" with it. Feels even slower than Rimworld and (at least for now) no mountain carving.
It has that Rimworld feel but so far it feels a bit meh. Maybe I just need more time with it.
Got the game on sale for around 30euros (with the DLC), a couple of days ago, but it's not at about 45 euros (a bit steep IMO).
I think there is going to be a bit of a test for the 2D games going 3D and that is going to be Prison Architect 2. It's releasing this year, I think. I played a fair bit of Prison Architect so I am curious to see what is coming, although I won't be jumping on the bandwagon as soon as it comes out. But I never do anyway.
And although Stranded: Alien Dawn gets called Rimworld 3D, let's not forget it's not coming from the same brilliant minds that did give us Rimworld.
That game is not 3d. You are still limited to building on a single level, you can't dig down, you can't build multi-level structures. It's Rimworld lite in a very pretty package.
I was under the impression you could build at least two story buildings, but I haven't gotten to that point myself. The game is neat (only a few hours in so far), but I sure as hell wouldn't call it a pretty package.
