Thank´s for helping!
Like give us the lowdown on your colony setup lol.
What can help a little bit is cleaning up the map of random stuff/items on the map like slag, dead bodies and stonechunks. It is indeed not normal, however I also experienced the same issues when I started.
this just sounds like a memory leak somewhere.
What you could try in your next playthrough is play with half the colony you currently have and see if you still experience the same issues.
In my next colony I will try to be more economic. That was a good hint, thank you!
It's been stable at around 2 gb of ram this whole time.
I can't imagine how you're getting to 10+ gb on a vanilla game.
P.S
Global coverage does barely anything in vanilla unless you're running mods like rim war. That's because world map mechanics are so incredibly minimalistic that they are essentially not even relevant, at worst it might be dragging you down by 1% in performance and ram cost. In other words, negligent.
