How to find the vampires (not gonna even try to spell their genetic name) easier?

I know there's a quest for two to come to your colony, but is there any other way to find them? I'm tryna steal some genes from them, but i don't know how to find them besides getting lucky on the quest

that's the only way i'm aware of besides making one in your starting group, but i feel they're at a disadvantage early on in a run

Just quests or starting with one. I think they can very rarely show up in raids and the like though.

I normally run into one when my colony hits around 100k in wealth or a year or two in the colony but its random since i play randy random.

There's two quests actually. In one 3 Sanguophages come to your colony to have a meeting. They will go into your base, put up a torch, a ritual scene starts and once they've finished they leave. Sometimes Vampire Hunters arrive at the scene and attack you and the Sanguophages.

The easier quest two consists of a Sanguophages ship having trouble in orbit and you signalling it to land. It will crash with one Sanguophages and a couple of thralls. They will wait around and then attack your colony.

Another possibility is through raids in theory. But I think I've never actually seen one in Vanilla.

There are only 3 options to get them without mods.

Start with one.
Do one of the two quests related to them.
Create your own by finding/buying all the genes.

They do not spawn in raids or any other events.
