So I've bult an impressive throne room... but they hold the ritual in the kitchen?
The quest for the yeoman ritual says it requires a throne room, instead they want to hold it in the dirty kitchen.

How do I get them to hold the ritual in throne room instead so I get the buffs from the room?

Is your throne assigned to the correct colonist?

Yeoman does not require throne, so I suppose they are not required to have the ceremony at the throne, but if it is assigned to the correct colonist, I would expect them to use it.

Jajjemen, the throne was assigned to the colonist in question before I initated the quest. I am wondering what triggers the choice of the room? There is no ritual spot in in. I have another room with a ritual spot for their ideologion that is also quite impressive so I'd thought that would be their first choice if they don't want to be in the throne room.

The Ritual spot is only used for ideology rituals. The Empire ceremonies are part of Royalty, so they would not use that spot anyway.

A Party spot might get them to move to another room, but they would be using the party spot, and not the throne for the ceremony.

It might be that if a throne is not required for a ceremony, then they will not use it, period. Not sure.

I always level up to Dame/Knight before performing the ceremony, so a throne has always been required. I also expect that most people would not build a throne room before it is required, so very few people would experience this.

I don't think the different DLC:s answer why they chose the kitchen over the other rooms with higher beauty factor. If the choice of room is random then they might as well choose the ritual spot as any other place.

I am not saying they avoided the room because you had a ritual spot in it, I am saying that it was not a factor in their decision.

Many times I will get a notification that my colonists are throwing a party and I will go check it out, and they are having the party in a half finished monument in the pouring rain at night only because it has a table that was marked as a gathering spot when it was built.

I think they do things like this not because the room is better, but for variety's sake. They wanted to give that new table a test drive and see how well it works for parties.

In your case, I think they are using your kitchen to gather because it probably has a campfire or a table that is marked as a gathering spot.

If you restored your game to a time before you initiated the ceremony, and then set all the tables and campfires not to be gathering spots, and then put a table or campfire in the throne room, I think they would gather there 100% of the time. But they would not be using the throne, since it is not a gathering spot.

Somewhere in the game code, there is probably a list of ceremonies that the throne can be used for, and Yeoman ceremony is not listed as one of them. Just a guess.

Very good guess. It was the dining table. It has a "gathering spot" icon that can be unchecked just as you said. I built a new smaller dining table (2x1) in the throne room with the "gathering spot" checked and it worked. I had a grandiose ceremony. Thank You!

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, The most important thing is that you managed to keep it in you mouth. You can look at it as if you passed the test.
