RimWorld

RimWorld

Mod for unique individuals? Persons of renown, etc
Is this a thing that exists?
I haven't played much RimWorld recently, but I was thinking about it and was considering what mod loadout I might want to use.

My colonies end up being whatever random folks wander in or are captured and they're mostly the same, with slightly varying traits and skills.

Are there any mods that introduce a list of unique or important persons that are distinguished from the typical pawn?

Like the game might point out a travelling person of interest and offer you the opportunity to try to persuade them to join your colony.

Dunno why I am even thinking of such a thing. Was just a random thought.
Not sure how these unique pawns could be mechanically different from others.

In my last playthrough I used a mod that allows you to reunite with the original people from your crew before your ship was destroyed.

You can use EDB prepare carefully or Character Editor to create as many "special" people that you would like the opportunity to reunite with later on.

In my playthrough, I created 10 pawns in total, but started on naked brutality. It took about 1.5 years to finally reunite with all the party members. At least 2 of them were prisoners I had to free, and 2 of them walked in onto the map. I think some of them dropped in pods and were wounded, and I forget how the others joined.

If you skip a reunion, they are not gone forever, and you have at least one more chance to save them, I think.

Since you are the one creating them, you can make them as special as you like, such as starting with archotech implants or psylevels and skills, or multiple traits, Godly gear, etc, etc. In my playthrough, they were all family members in one way or another. 2 couples, with intermarried children.

This sounds similar to what you are talking about.

Actually. This is Part of the Basegame. You dont really notice it.
But there is actually Unique Pawns which can Appear in your Game :)
These are Pawns which were made with Specific Backstories and Skills by either the Devs themselves (For example You can actually Find Tynan in the Game) or by Backers which Supported the Development of the Game.

As for Mods.

That Depends on what kind of thing You are looking for.

There is for example a Mod which is Adding known Online Idols or Anime Characters as Pawns which can just Show up or Trigger as Events or require some Quest or Building to be Recruited etc.

There is also alot of Mods which Add alot more Backstories and more different Kinds of Pawns etc.
Race Mods Add entire Different Races. Other Mods Simply Add new Factions and Xenotypes etc etc.

There is the relationships mechanic - one of my pawns killed her bandit brother in a raid in my current game, and in the previous someone's alcoholic dad drifted in and eventually left (after pissing almost everyone else off) because it was a teetotaler colony. So that was special.

Ya base game has Unique pawns with unique backstories and preset traits, there's a setting in the options to increase the chance of seeing a handful of these. Some are "name in game" which is just a unique name, some are "backers" which have a unique backstory and preset features. These are generally not "better" than normal pawns, but many of the backer pawns area always "good" at specific things.

Royalty adds "important" pawns, nobles with psycasts and title benefits. Though you would generally have to become enemies with the empire to be able to recruit them.

I'm working on two mods like that, but it's going to take some time. One of them is going to flesh out Rough Outlanders, adding sub-factions and famous NPCs.

VFE classical adds senators from doing missions. VFE empire makes the empire hierrchy a lot more sensible. Lastly Vanilla Aspirations Expanded is in development to make pawns more unique.

Not exactly what you're looking for but Mooloh's mythic framework allows you to carry over certain items between saves. If one of your pawns achieves something special during a run, their weapon for example might appear as a legendary quest reward in the next run, being named after the pawn that wielded it.

I would assume that similar mods would exist doing the same thing with the pawns themselves (making important pawns from a previous save part of the NPC population in the next) since it's a very popular feature in these kinds of game, but I haven't come across it yet
