Deserter quest
Hi all,

How often does this quest appear per colony/save? . Per colony I only get 1.

Many thanks.

Think the deserter quest was a scripted early game quest that only happens once.

There's your answer. I'm not sure what exactly triggers it, but I do know it's a one time offer. Kind of like if you have the Phytokin mod you only get offered the runaway phytokin quest once.

Without mods the answer is 0 to 1. It fires on day 26 of your save as long as your map is not an extreme biome. If you don't accept it at that point or you are on an extreme map, that's it, it never fires again.

If you use VFE Empire it can trigger multiple times.

Alright, thanks everyone. Good to know. Was already wondering if I was missing something.

I am using the Incident Pawn Stat option in the "Tweaks Galore" mod so that I can see the stats of a potential pawn before I accept them into my colony, and I got one that was "Unwaveringly Loyal" from the Deserter quest.

I hit accept to see if they would join or not, and this did not seem to cause any issues. I just thought I would share it since you were talking about this specific quest. It says he will refuse to join if taken prisoner, so I suppose that does not affect them joining willingly? I wonder if Unwaveringly Loyal affects a drop-pod-pawn from joining willingly if you rescue them?

I did save my game first and reloaded afterward, since there was no way I was taking on a pessimistic wimp with no skills or passions. Although I suppose that Tough negates Wimp, since they take 50% less damage? I would have thought that those traits were mutually exclusive...

That is actually quite a cool mod. Next thing to add. Thanks for that.
And yes, it is quite weird that Wimp and Though are together. I have seen more interesting combinations so I can cross this one of my list as well
