Why did my electric smelter stop?
Early game my smelter worked like I thought it would. I could melt or destroy crap clothing my tailor was making ect. Now it won't anymore. It says needs material. I know the number count on the bill is fine, I've tried 1 to forever. There's power... idk what happened!

Pretty sure the electric smelter can't smelt un-smeltable materials. What materials are you trying to smelt?
Have you tried turning off and on? Sometimes it helps with weird things Another question is - are your pawns properly zoned? They won't grab anything that is outside their zone

Yeah, they're all 'unrestricted'. Tried moving it, making a new one...

Smelt-able things? Like I said, it was smelting clubs and swords all day long and then it just decided to freak out and stop. I changed literally nothing.

There should be two settings for the smelter, smelt and destroy. Depending on the material of the items in question that you are destroying, you may just have the wrong bill set up. They won't smelt granite clubs for example.

Other than that, I'm stumped.

It's usually something that causes a facepalm once you figure it out, when it comes to problems like this. Are you 100% sure that your pawns are able to "reach" the items you're trying to smelt? I know you said that nothing is zoned off, but honestly, have you double and triple-checked? Are you sure that the item in question is accessible and not behind a barrier they can't get through in some way? What, exactly, is that object that you're trying to smelt now (the exact name of it) that's not being smelted?

Can you verify that the item is in the list on this page?

Try setting up a new stockpile at critical to store it, and see if the pawn even hauls it to the new pile. If they don't, even when you select the pawn and try to right-click the item to force the haul, then there's something preventing the pawn from reaching it whether you can figure out why or not.

Screenshots are also always helpful. Show us the exact setup, with the item you're trying to smelt, and where your smelter is. People would be able to identify a problem from a screenshot, most likely.

I'd like to zombie this and say it was a definitely a face-palm moment. I had the quality set to awful-poor and so they wouldn't grab anything that was normal or better, even if the hp% of it's durability was low enough.
Huh, so that was issue with bill - well, that was definitely a facepalm moment
