can megaspiders breed?
i'm using vanilla events expanded and two megaspiders joined my colony via transport pod crash, one male, the other female. i noticed that spelopedes are listed as unable to breed, is this the same for megaspiders?

i want to start a giant insect farm and march with them into battle, so knowing whether or not they can breed will be useful

After a quick google search I can't find anything that says they can. However the most recent post I could find is 2016. I know with the new Incestoid mod you can build a machine to make more.

The game produces them via their hives... that's what you need if you want to create a critter farm. I'm not familiar with that mod, but I believe that only the critters it sent you will behave as domesticated tame animals... the same cannot be said for newly bred critters from a hive though... so any critter army you create is still likely to view anything as a threat and attack on sight, be it your pawns or your enemies.

I used to have a lot of fun, using critter colonies as part of my map defence, but the changes made since before v1.0 have meant that's no longer possible, which is a shame, because really I enjoyed the mess they'd make ;)

wait, if they can't reproduce individually, why add genders to them at all?

I suspect that the mod used a megaspider skin over another type of animal in order to get a tame megaspider and so it gained genders by doing so... a wolf in megaspider clothing as it were ;)

you actually can tame megaspiders in vanilla, it's just incredibly dangerous. also, megaspiders do have genders as well in vanilla

I thought that this option was removed in initial 1.1 update

the new insectioid faction mod from the vanilla expanded team might make it possible to at least get a hold of related insectiods a bit easier

they might be able to breed because baby megaspiders exsist if you use the give birth dev tool command thinggy but i have never tamed any so idk if they can breed
