Traps and visitors question.
So this time around, ive got a decent sized base with 6 people. I set up some of those basic traps in a hallway, but they keep goin off when my pawns or bots goes through. Is there any way to stop this?
I am afraid that i will get some visitors, and they will walk through it and set it off.

leave a space for pawns to go around the trap

wouldn't that negate the traps as far as raiders go?
Raiders should still go through a trap hallway if you set it up right while colonists and visitors will avoid the traps.

what they meant was give them a way, a door somewhere to go through.
you can also do a 2 wide hallway, with traps spaced every other spot and then a fence in the alternating spots on the other side of the hallway

I used to have them meet inside my base, like in the killbox, but one time I had a huge manhunter event and the visitors opened the door to let them in. From now on, I'll just go out to meet with them. lol

Raiders can't see traps. They can learn a certain path is a "hotspot" for traps after multiple raids die to them, but they still don't know exact trap locations. So if you alternate traps on the left and right of a 2 wide corridor, your colonists can walk between them without setting them off, and enemies will still walk over them and set them off as long as they have no other path into your base.

Friendly visitors can't trigger traps ever, so it doesn't matter how they are placed for that.

The wiki also has other trap layouts that work.

Make a 2-tiles wide corridor, but instead of alternating with traps on each side, alternate traps on one side and fences on the other. Your pawns will avoid the traps when walking in there, but enemies will always avoid fences and walk straight into the trap line.
