How do you deal with infections mid caravan
i just find it annoying. even with caravan mod its impractical to have to make a room and imprison them just so you can remove a limb. they wont heal fast enough on the road, and ive even heard that a caravan doesnt use medicine to treat wounds while traveling

Caravan will use medicine though I believe if it's a solo colonist they need to be set to self tend. Just always send a doctor, some meds, and enough bedrolls of decent quality. I rarely lose people to it if I have all these things. Caravan can even move with the injured people getting carried.

Won't they heal fast enough ? For some reason my pawns tend to have much less trouble healing automatically on the road than if I try to micromanage and stay on a map to heal them, I'm not even sure I can remember someone dying after reforming an injured caravan

caravans in my experience will use meds according to your set preferences. but only when resting. let the caravan sit for a while if you have a medic in it and they should do there thing

In my experience (modded game though), the best way to deal with infection mid caravan was to halt caravan movement at the moment. I noticed that infection heals better if the caravan isn't moving and that's also the only time my doctors on the road use medicine to heal them.

Another alternative, in any case you have the vanilla outpost mod installed is to set up an encampment outpost that will get them healed up faster compared to the normal way while also preventing them from running out of food.

looks like a good use for force rest. and by the outpost mod do you mean the vfe outpost one or set up camp?

Both are good mods to put in. Set up camp (change a few settings so you can keep creating camps without having to wait 30 days ingame for the marker to disappear) for those minor wood, hunting, and general item collection, while vanilla expanded outposts is great for those passive rest and healing. Especially if you don't like micro managing everything especially once your colony gets larger.
