Wind turbines
For those who use wind turbines, where do you usually put them? Do you put them inside the base?

I usually set them up over my farms because most crops don't block the wind.

Yep, covering the farmland (a 10x10 farmland growing anything but trees can have up to 8 wind turbines surrounding it with the largest "keep clear" area over the crops), alternatively over the solar generators. Never outside the base. I guess outside would technically be fine, but you will eventually want to grow crops in your base anyway so you might as well include wind turbines in the planning unless you're going for one of the more reliable generators. Chemfuel is my preferred one.

i got question about wind turbines, if you build them next to each other (no gaps in btw) do they connected to the whole system? in power vision mode, their blue line did not linked to the second one that touched the 1st wind turbine i build in the same direction order.

Turbines are a very high priority for raiders so if you build them outside your base you'll usually have to run out to defend them.

When possible I like placing them along the beach facing out into the water, don't really have to worry about trees there. Otherwise I plop them wherever, I replace them fairly quickly most games anyway.

If you place them side-by-side they will connect. You should see an indicator for this in the power mode though, if their blue lines are touching they should visibly "link."

That’s what I’m talking about, the two wt are touching each other, cannot install the power conduit in between them either, and it is shown not linked in power mode(blue lines). I could need to put a conduit line at the back of them if its the case.

it is linked after i restart the game, it seem like it doesn't when you build it in the run but after i save yesterday and reload/restart today of the game it linked.

Yes, BUT if one is destroyed, the chain will break. Just remember that.

A for where to place them, i tend to use the space left open after building perimeter walls. I link small hills and wall off a large area and some space is just useless. They might be vulnerable to attack if the perimeter is breached, but that can work out in my favor if it distracts enough of the mob away from my defenders. Cheaper to replace turbines than limbs.
Generally i just look for spots where grazing an hauling animals wont loiter, and stick them there. Once i've built a large "room" with no roof just for turbines. But that was a very large base.

The good thing about turbines is they're fairly cheap and easy to place. The answer might as well be: just anywhere.

I plop them down inside my outer defense ring (turrets on each side of the world along with barricades, adding higher tiered turrets later on)
To generate more energy I plop down solar panels inside the wind turbine's area. Solar panels don't disrupt the wind flow and you are able to minmax the energy outpot easily. You can also plant stuff there instead (not trees), but I don't find the idea appealing because it's kind of a very small area and usually without rich soil.
To my surprise raiders just ignore them and go for weaker doors and such if they happen to get through my defense ring riddled with traps, pawns and turrets.
