RimWorld

Message "Developer Tools Access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue" popping up after adding a few mods?
It is asking for my admin password and will not let me do anything on rimworld without entering. AFter clicking cancel about ten times it will shut down rimworld. Any idea what's going on?

Sounds like a virus in a mod to me, or a bad bug.

Scan your pc with an antivirus or malware bytes, just to be sure.

That message would make me very nervous. I would get rid of all recently added mods and check their mod pages for reports of this.

Post your mod list

where the hell are you downloading mods from?...

100% virus. I'm with Pryokid, where are you downloading your mods?

Also, OP, you might want to consider changing your admin password.

If you actually entered your admin password, the mod / virus / whatever that asked for it might have managed to phone home, and some total stranger might have your password right now.

I actually just got the same bug last night. I haven't typed my password (I am not that dumb) but I can't access the game to even see my mod list. Going to virus-scan and try to unsubscribe to mods from Steam itself.

brycepunk1, I'm just going to assume your Mac is configured to open Xcode when something crashes, and Xcode requires changes to security to avoid that popup. I assume that because the newest version of Steam seems to crash Rimworld on Macs. https://steamcommunity.com/app/294100/discussions/0/3113656428106413171/

Yeah this is a Mac thing, it could be a virus attached to XCode but it isn't for sure a malware thing. And almost definitely not mod related. But I'm not a tech genius so I would do some research if you want to be more comfortable.

Well, all that I can say is that after I entered my password into the dialogue that popped up (still kicking myself for that bit of stupid) I suddenly found that my password had been changed and I no longer had access to my system. I restarted as fast as I could, booted from my Time Machine drive, and did a complete restore from the last backup (about 20 minutes old). I'm back in now and have set a new password. I can't say for sure that it was malware, but I'm not taking any chances.

And I still cannot get back into a game that I was just playing this morning. Sigh.
