In practice, it’s kind of ugly and awkward to do that. I personally set it up as one vitals monitor per pair of beds, with the monitor at the foot and an end table at the head.

BHEHB
BH/HB=bed where H is the head, E=end table, X=empty space, M=monitor
You can then place a multitude of these next to each other:

...... Etc
Good for 26 beds with a asile in between and meds between spaces. In a full crisis like a big flu pandamic (mod) or heavy sieges it will be a improvement then what I did before (12beds)
Some I'm happy :)
I do this, but with 2 setups...so 16 beds. I usually have between 10-20 colonists.
I also add CRT TV so that all people sleeping in beds can watch TV. (the viewing square that shows where the viewing is active, fits right on top of all 8 beds).
And then add in sofas, flower pots, statues, etc to make the place better. However, I didn't think about end tables. I'll have to see if I can re-arrange and get that in.
It depends on your goal. My goal is to keep my patients as happy and healthy as possible. So, for example, I want all beds to get the comfort bonus from an end table. You can't fit headboards into an 8-beds-per-monitor layout. 4 per monitor is probably the limit if they have end tables.
I'll go one further. My prison cells are all private hospital rooms, one vitals monitor per bed. Because prisoners are always, always in bad shape when they come in. When they recover, I want one prisoner per room so they don't break out together.
