Outdoors has access to sunlight, wind, and rivers for power generation as well as soil for growing crops and feeding domesticated ruminants.
I prefer to build outdoor bases but both are good. I feel like most players prefer mountain bases as they're a bit more secure, as drop pod raids seem to wreck a lot of players.
mountains are great against dropraids, easy to manage temperaturewise but suffer from infestation events instead of dropraid.
superstructure have the issue with dropraids but are still better than cities when it comes to temperatures
city types have less issues with dropraids than superstructures because due to the spacing the dmg dropraids can cause is relativly low. they are horrible for temperaturemanagement though (in vanilla).
