The game is extremely easy, and requires minimal skill to play. You can't actually lose unless you have doomsday planet destroying weapons enabled (which is off by default).
You follow a very straightforward strategy that will work every time, until you change what mods you are using.
Do you like micromanaging and creating bases for pawns to work in? If so, you'll likely like this game.
Do you enjoy micromanaging every operation? If so, you'll likely enjoy this game.
Do you enjoy repetitive tasks that have to be repeated the entire game via micromanagement? If so, you'll likely enjoy this game.
Do you enjoy being able to mod the game to do a large variety of things limited mostly to the imagination of the mod designers? If so, this is a great game to mod. It's not as great as say skyrim, but it's really rather neat.
Also- The mod selection is great. After you play the vanilla game for a while you can add a few mods to suit your needs.
Learning the exact numbers that influence the basic mechanics and calculations is what takes the time.
Also, there's no such thing as over managing. There's "not managing enough", and there's "managing just enough". Managing just enough is rare though. It's a good thing this game has a pause button - without the pause button, it would be impossible to manage your pawns enough.
this game doesn't go on sale, and what do you mean epic money?
Early build orders is another matter though. What do you need to build asap? That's where the learning curve climbs for a newcomer. In your first few runs, you'll find your colonists need food, you forget to build a freezer, a prison and a medical facility. Getting a cooking station and a butcher table up and running is also a priority. Then power, light... See?
Eventually, you hit upon a 3-day schedule which you'll repeat each time you play. It's up to you to find one but folks will be happy to share their ideas if you want spoilers. ;)
learning the individual mechanics alone isnt difficult you get that down in a couple minutes. to be efficient in those systems can be learned quickly as well in a couple hours worth of experience.
it gets increasingly more difficult to become more efficient in everything at once while keeping a good pace (the pace is the hard part though). but even that is on a managable level
I'm already thinking about my third game with the Tech Tree Minami mod.
I was thinking about my second game with the Star Wars mod after my colony got going in my first game - which was vanilla.
I'm just having so much trouble forcing myself to finish these games. I'm pretty sure after my third game with the Tech Tree Minami mod - if it's still the same thing, I'm just going to stop playing this game.
https://imgur.com/a/xV0Ds2S - As long as you pay attention to the Epic Game Store, you can gather up these Epic Coupons that subtract x money from any purchases. These coupons last for maybe 6 months, and they show up from time to time.
I have picked the Rimworld DLC as an example since I don't own it yet.. but the coupon will apply to any game that is above $14.99 US. It makes purchases significantly cheaper, even for games that never go on sale.
I bought Rimworld with an Epic Coupon not so long ago.
little hint: if you go in tropical areas you can just plant stuff all year round, makes it easier to get enough food
