Can you gain Noble ranks after declaring war on the Empire?

In my current game, I accepted the offer from the Empire traitor for Psylink Activators in exchange for shelter and was made an enemy of the Empire.

Apart from the initial event and perhaps one early attack by 2-3 pawns, nothing really came of this hostility.

My base ended up being completely destroyed by an event from a mod and all pawns (including thr imperial traitor) were killed except for my starting colonist.

I've since rebuilt from the ground up in a different map tile and have had a few missions pop up that allowed me to recover Goodwill With the Empire.

We are not neutral yet, but it is close.

Would I start being able to collect honor after reaching neutral status with them even though I openly attacked their outpost and sheltered their traitor?

yeah, also it's really easy to instantly befriend them by just sending over a gift in transport pods (simply load up a bunch of items with no colonists in transport pods then send them to any empire settlement, closest one i guess to save on chemfuel). I remember being allied to empire then their bestowing ceremony delegates walked into a mech cluster --for some reason they thought that was my fault -- and plummeted my goodwill to -75. Then i just loaded up a couple of dozen capes into transport pods and was immediately allied again lol, just took some smoothing over with X-mas gifts : )
