Real life benefits of playing this game
Hello,

I like to play games which train skills which I benefit from in real life, or teach me anything I can benefit from when I switch of my pc.

So what real life benefits do I get from playing this game?

Let me know!

How to best utilise human corpses for profit. How to take on an enemy force 10 times your numbers. How to build a facility to minimise travel time between dangerous areas and medical facilities. The dangers of leaving food unsupervised.

Serious answer: Skills? Probably not. Cognitive benefits? Similar to many games. Playing games that make you think is basically exercise for your brain, helping you solve problems and think faster IRL. RimWorld will definitely exercise your mind. It's not really a twitchy game though so probably wont help much with reaction times like other games might.

last year i was diagnosed with cancer. This game made cancer more tolerable because there is such a depth to it that my mind get lost while I try to comprehend my multiple failure. Plus this community is great. If anything I learnt that if I was ever to build a colony from scratch, I will emphase on the table first :)

How much does it teach you management skills?

not much I'm afraid. If anything, Rimworld management is like a puzzle with many dependencies. If you want to learn skills, attempt to run a colony for 2 years with 100 mods and play detective as of what updates broke what mods hehe.

Fixing your mod lists is a fine way to hone your deductive reasoning.

I'd say that there are no skills that you could pick up from this game which you can use in real life scenarios. There's not even any survival skills to learn since RimWorld does not emulate that very well, but rather chooses to do so in an abstract way. One skill that you could probably learn is how to handle money by spending your silver wisely and selling products in demand. The benefits you can get is obviously "fun" itself.

You may not be religious, but I'll be praying for you.

That's a terrible life lesson. You need to diversify your crops if you want to stay ahead of the economy.
