Many people play the game without the DLC and most mods don't require the DLC (I don't think any of the ones I regularly use do).
In terms of gameplay hours for this game it's well worth the money.
It might not be the newest game but gosh darn it's a gem that is worth its weight in diamonds.
While some mods require certain DLC, many others do not or at worst have some additional and logical functionality with them present. If you want value for money right now, check out recommendations and reviews for which specific ones would be of interest rather than buying everything wholesale, and you'll find the cost is probably nowhere near $100+.
In any case this thread will be locked once a moderator gets around to it.
The fact the game never going on sale is a good thing, since you don't have to worry about losing out on a good deal. Just go to your local McDonald and work there for like a day or two and you can buy the game with all the DLCs. It is as simple as that.
However, why you so greedy as wanting money for these ten years?
Gief game for free.
I respect it, but...
The Developer has the Right to set their own price. So, you can ask for reductions, but they do not have to agree.
Tynan doesn't agree with deep sale-price cuts. He's not a "20% Off" sort of developer. :) At the end of the day, according to his words and history, you'll always be likely to get a "No" in regards to deep sale discounts and certainly to any suggestions for any big price adjustment. (They have manually adjusted for currency exchange rates, btw.)
I think that recently there was something like a Steam 15% off sale, but that may have been just some things adding up or as the result of some marketing agreement /etc. (Not sure, not my business to know)
There are quite a few colony-builder/survival games out there, some even with personality and social interaction mechanics. So, you have a good many to choose from that may be cheaper than Rimworld. (There will even be more planned for release as time goes on.)
Ypu can sometimes find Rimworld on sale elsewhere. The most common source of discounts seems to be Humble Bundle.
I am always confused by this mentality of feeling the need to buy a game with all DLCs together. Not only does it multiply the risk of wasted money if the game isn't for me, I also don't really notice the DLCs if they blend right into the game as they do with Rimworld. By that I rob myself of the chance to "fresh up" the game if it got a bit boring after 100 hours.
Maybe there are games that are bad without their DLCs, I have not yet encountered them. Even in the infamous Paradox games you can spend quite an amount of hours just learning and playing the base game without breaking the piggy bank and buying all those DLCs.
Minecraft plus all DLC costs a lot more than $79.99, I think it's probably close to $200. I'm not sure what rock you've been living under.
( Sorry, this is just my cynical POV)
