My colonists won't craft anything

New to the game
Under the work tab, when i try to make them craft, or tailor or smith, the pop up says "will not do" although nothing in their bio tells me that they can't craft or smith? Am i missing something?

Does it say anything about not doing skilled labor? And do you have those jobs enabled for them in the work tab?

It does'nt say anything about not doing skilled labor. For example, in one of my colonist's bio, under "incapable of" there is "none". So she should be able to work on anything right?
I have the required crafting stations.
If i check the corresponding boxes under the "work" tab, they have a red outline.

Probably not enough skill to craft it

There should be some additional text, when you hover with the mouse over the box - it'll probably tell you that your colonists skills are too low. On the other hand: It's very unlikely that all you starting coloinsts have zero crafting skill, so there should be something they can train with.

Red outline means their skill is very low, but they can still do it. If colonists can't do a task then the box is entirely missing on the worktab and you can't check it.

It's unlikely you're running mods if you're new to the game, but just in case, are you? That could be the issue. Also what exactly is it that you're trying to craft or tailor or smith? Do you have the relevant work stations like a tailoring station? Do you have the requisite bills, for example to tailor a cowboy hat? Is this a game you just started, or is it the case that it was working before and then stopped? In all honesty the game can be quite tricky for someone beginning, I probably would have been totally lost myself if I hadn't watched some hololive playthroughs on youtube.
