I'll pay you $20 to build me a new house. You don't hate money do you?

Meanwhile the agoraphobic neighbor is paying $20 to bring the garbage cans in. Tough choice?

Z-levels wouldn't be a DLC, it would be a complete redesign of the game.

Alright, you gonna pay for the thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars it would cost to develop it? They don't hate money, they infact love money, which is why they wouldn't make something like that. Go play Dwarf Fortress

Having played with them, i'd pay them not to add it to the game, it doesn't work, at all, with 2D settings, if you have 100 Z levels it means at any given point you can only be seeing 1% of the actual map (less, considering camera zoom levels), I'd rather have more efficient movement opens and wider maps instead, and I'd compromise with having actual connections between cities, like a railway system connecting 2 bases through pathfinding as if they were a single map, but not actual Z levels, ladders and walls you can climb and fire from above can be fun so you can create forts with walls, but that's it.

You guys are negative. I didnt say anything bad about the game. Just pointing out a ton of people would pay for a layered map.
I mean, look how may people have downloaded z levels mod for rimworld, or bought dwarf fortress.
Void" i respectfully disagree
Jirki" look into the Z level Mod. it's not a hug leap
mguthrie88. Do you just troll discussions looking to be rude? obviously I love the game. Also i like dwarf fortress and will play it.

Astasia" I'll send you my paypal. i'll take a 10$ deposit on that house.

How much money are we talking about, here?

But, not everything you may think you want actually turns out to be what you thought it would be. Desire is often corrupted by ignorance, leading to painful lessons...

(Keplerth, somewhat, has z-levels and a Rimworldy style. Dwarf Fortress is now on Steam, with a "real" U.I. (Most terriblish U.I. in existence, but it does have one.))

How big a house we talkin'?

Hey, twenty bucks is twenty bucks...

In the US, you can get most municipal waste collectors to do that if the customer has a handicap or is infirm/elderly. Go figure - You can get someone to actually roll the garbage can back and forth for you in many spots in the U.S., but if you've got a acute medical problem... good f'in luck - You can't get help until you're out of money. :)

A few thousands at best, out of however many millions of copies were sold.
The mods are bugged to hell and required tons of work to get them to the states they are currently in. Making official Z-Levels would require even more. Many parts of the game would need to be completely redesigned just so you can have a basement or an attic. Lol.

DF was better when it was 2d too.
Dean Mar 25, 2023 @ 8:44am
I'll check that out corisai
Dean Mar 25, 2023 @ 8:48am
Smelly fish" hard to say. The fact modders can make it work. Gives me hope, that the Rimworld team could make it happen. They do a great job at converting mods into official game.
Also think you would be surprised at how many people would enjoy multi level fortresses and mines

"Rewrite your entire game from scratch, I will pay you 20 dollars." Its like yeah sure, this is like some one telling me "I will pay you 20 dollars to add a second story to my house." At best that would be Rimworld 2 now with Z level lol. WAY too late to add it now lol.

And z-level mods are crap if those got released as an update I think people would be demanding refunds from all the bugs it introduces lol.

They work just fine on Dwarf Fortress. Love that game. I'd pay for the dlc as well, but yea it would be a redesign. Such a feature would be better to do if they ever make a Rimworld 2.

I would be happy with that

I love Dwarf Fortress, it's the whole reason I got into Rimworld.
But I feel the games are quite different.

For Z-levels to be effective in the base game, your colonists would basically all need to be tunnellers, or else 90-95% of the map is only able to be accessed on occasion.

I would much rather see better inter-settlement communications, like the ability to lay roads for faster travel or perhaps rail for transporting goods from one colony to another efficiently.

Then again, they have made some significant changes to the game to accommodate other DLCs, so I'm sure they could figure out a good way to make tunnelling efficient for common folks.
