Caravan supplies disappeared

I set up and sent my first caravan (4 men, no animals). Then made a successful trade.
Caravan is back home, but they bring only a dog, which I also bought. But no a single piece of component I purchased.
So I sent a single man caravan to the ally city again to check situation - they have no components to trade, so I really took em all by first caravan.
But I am not able to make anything needed components, so it means I do not have it in any of my stockpiles nor any of my citizens has it in his/her possession.
Then a million-dollar question, where the components are?
