GlitterWorld
Not maybe next but down the line, now that much longer games are possible, children, dynasties etc, I think there should be a Rimworld: Glitterworld DLC. More modern comforts, more things like making bars and hotels and discos and shops, more tiles and structures and items of what a full glitterworld would be like. Not a full big DLC cause this would all likely be mid or lategame but like a medium one for those of us who want to play a city.

I know, mods, but I want to explore the vanilla rimworld versions of the glitterworld stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw many of those things, but I don't think it will quite be on the level of "Glitterworlds" as those are far beyond typical technologies and deep into frivolous excess territory. Techwise "modern comforts" from our point of view would be a Midworld, which is what the Rimworld the game takes place on was before whatever apocalypse befell it. Some more "glittertech" is bound to trickle into the game in future updates though.

That would be neat. The game seems to have kind of a baked in assumption that your colony is just a temporary outpost which you’ll eventually abandon. It would be really cool (although probably impossible for the game to handle currently) to build a big, lively permanent town/city replete with all the stuff you mentioned that npcs could show up and interact with.

Larger colonies generally are a frequent request, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they were working on that, but as I understand it (from these forums) it would require some performance upgrades. Would be nice, though, and a hospitality-style DLC would go nicely with an expanded world map. So far, though, DLCs have offered more options for slaying and flaying than inviting in guests.

If glitterworld tech was craftable then the whole excitement of mech serums and orbital strikes would be less exciting, and I think the devs want to make ultra tech devices uncraftable, and sparkling worlds already adds glitterworld technology

God if an official somewhat balanced version of glitter tech drops as the next dlc I will actually bust

Glittertech, urbworlds, xenotypes, psycasts... comes dangerously close to Shadowrun.

I'd be up for it.
