Which mod do I need to feed babies?
I added a children mod and one of my pawns had a baby. They just totally ignore it and now it's starving. Presumably I need another mod which gives the options for child-care. Anyone know of a working (1.4) mod for babies?

Children mods should be self contained in regards to feeding, what you're experiencing is likely a mod conflict. There were some issues a few months back with Humanoid Alien Races (HAR) and seeing food on the map, I don't know if that's been fixed since then.

Personally, the only time I've ever had children in this game is through the Biotech dlc, so I'm afraid I can't help any further on this issue.

I'll try removing all the mods that aren't needed for this, see if that works.

Which mod? I'm not aware of any functioning baby mods for 1.4. The old baby mods used to use dormant vanilla code to function, that code has been activated and refined for Biotech, meaning any mod that wants to add babies/children now has to be rewritten from scratch to use their own code and this will require scripting and going around base game mechanics, which some might see as being risky and "enabling DLC content for free" which could be against the workshop rules. So basically, nobody is doing it and they are all abandoned. You might still be able to spit babies out with RJW, but that mod has never had functioning code for baby/childcare and never intended to, so it's going to be using the Biotech code and require Biotech to function AFAIK.

I'm not actually sure which of my mods allowed the babies to be born. As you say, the only one I saw was for 1.3 and I have something for caring for babies but it doesn't seem to be functioning very well. It was spitting out 14-year-old babies but I changed the birth-age to zero. I think that mod doesn't actually do baby care so that's probably where it's gone wrong.

I think I just need to get Biotech, looks like a good mod anyway.

The Children, School and Learning mod has "child birth" but it's intended that they are born at the age of 15 (which is an adult as far as the game mechanics are concerned), it doesn't have any code or mechanics for younger pawns. I wasn't aware it had a configurable setting for that, but might be what is going on there.

Yeah looks like it, the first was born at 14 or 15 so I changed it to 0. But then none of the mods have baby-care. Bit the bullet and just bought Biotech :)

school and learning + RJW together can make babies... but none of them has the mechanics to actually care for them thus they both make sure that new natural colonists are born as self sufficient individuals... capable to walk around on their own two legs and able to eat what they need,

(usually age 3+)

@Astasia
CSL has no mechanics aside from the school it self that will take preschool conditions into account.
neither does RJW.

birds and bees should have something similar to biotech mechanics but can't tell for sure because i never used that

long term.. i think biotech is the best option for folks that are as impatient like i am.

Birds and Bees just adds dangly bits, for "story reasons", it doesn't add any sort of pregnancy or children. It's just a "fluff" mod. Fluffy was pretty strongly against the idea of adding kids to the game. Somebody else did the 1.4 version of the mod, but it doesn't sound like they made any functional changes.

told ya i never used it and CLS has a setting to allow the age range from zero up to 18 and beyond.
recommendet setting is still 13 but i personally decided to let them being born at the age of 4 when i was actively using its birth mechanics.
and in combination with RJW it had biotech like trimesters for pregnancies.

though... they did it like rabbits and i didn't liked that.. so its all vanilla biotech repopulation for me since than.
