Can wooden posts help mine roof to not colapse?
I almost lost a pawn to a collapsin roof, can this be prevented with posts?

Posts are functionally similar to columns and can serve as roof supports.

Yes, and if an infestation or raid happens shoot the column to force a roof collapse

Is there any way to stop infestations? The entrance to my base is through some caves and yesterday I lost 2 pawns because of the damm insects :(

Freeze the cave to temperatures under -19 so that no infestations spawn. if your having trouble killing the oversized roaches, then use molotovs to quickly give the bugs heatstroke and kill them. if you wanna see how bad hives can get, i posted a screenshot of me in naked brutality trying to fend off bugs that got to "multiply" inside a ancient danger I opened

infestations are designed to be a mechanic that punishes cave bases, because it's really easy to defeat most other dangerous situations by living in a cave. many players simply disable them in the scenario settings if they don't like it, but i don't think you can do that with an existing save. just something to remember for next time if you really dont enjoy playing with them

yeah, some people might prefer infestations to the drop pod raids where 20 raiders just immediately appear inside of your base bypassing your outside turrets lol

You can also prevent infestations by ensuring the underground space is lit. They can only spawn in unlit areas, like our mushroom farms (which means that's a good place to focus some traps or other defenses at). The freezing idea is easier if it's a huge, abandoned tunnel system.

The drop pods can't reach you if you're under a mountain. Otherwise, drop pods in your base is one of those instances where having good melee characters is really helpful.

light only reduces the chances of an infestation i believe, but have a 0 percent chance to spawn in areas under -19 celcius.

bugs can be a great source of protein for kibble and insect jelly is great to for a food backup or to sell. If you have places where too many bugs spawn i suggest mostly filling in that area with wood walls then the spawn event will be smaller and you can just farm em easily. I've found its not really worth while to try to use heaters or coolers on them. Also if you know how to approach the fight it can be pretty easy. Inside a mountain base put a tanky melee pawn in a door way and have a bunch of shooters behing them i make a big ball and the melee tanks. I also use this same approach for Scaria events since both are melee only.
