Raids won't always go into my killbox
When raids happen, sometimes they will just attack the nearest double granite wall or the plasteel doors instead of walking up to my open killbox.

Did i build something wrong? Since they normally should take the easiest route into my base.

How do you prepare for that? Raids are already pretty big (20+ pawns) and if they come in through an unexpected point, its pretty challenging without the support of my structures.

Exactly this.
If they can't find any valuable targets, they just start to attack random walls and doors.
Make sure you have an opened way leading inside your base behind the killbox.

There are different types of raids. When you get raided the pop-up message will tell you what type of raid it will be. The tunneling type raiders actively try to avoid turrets line of sight and go through thin walls.

I've heard that you could dissuade them from going through a wall if there is a turret behind it, but you would have to test that.

There is actually 2 types: breachers and sappers. Sappers avoid turrets but breachers always go straight ahead through closest path. Game normally tells you what type is it as well as if it's tunnelers at all

i found that building stuff in front of your killbox can attract them. i usually build a few brazers outside my base and attract most raiders to them.

You might consider using a mod to build moats so that's literally the only way to get into the base. However raids can include things like drop pods and sieges so you might also consider using mods to restrict this to normal raids only. 2 mods that I use but might not be updated to 1.4 (but still work) would be Turtle Friendly Raids and No Sieges. You might also disable certain threats in the scenario editor like mechanoid clusters and infestations if you want.

Just make sure that open door doesn't lead to a shelf of corn stored for the winter, animals will come steal it if they can't find anything else. Of course, if you have a trap hallway leading in, that's swapping traps for meat
