There are several mods that just add this feature, as is the case with most things people want just for aesthetic reasons.
The game has very much become "game provides mechanics, modders provide aesthetics", and that has been true since before the first DLC.
It's one of the things that keeps me coming back to this game, the multitude of ways you can change the visuals to match whatever playthrough you have planned.
I still use character editor for color-coding pawns.
I like the dye/paint mechanics for buildings, and am glad to keep artists busy without their damn statues hogging resources and cluttering up the stockpile, but I wish you could dye bedsheets (and have a plus/handcuffs icons).
im not using any mods for my current playthrough . but i have all the dlc

You need to strip them just before they die. Avoid that tainted status on their precious clothes.
