Should I get the power claw?
So one of my pawns lost both his arms in a fight with raiders. He's been rescued and treated but is still in pain shock. He is very good at plants and animals and nothing else. I sent another pawn on a caravan for trading the clothes I stripped off the dying raiders, and I saw that the nearby friendly settlement sells power claws for c. 300 silver.

I could give my injured pawn wooden hands for a very low cost, or I could get him some power claws. Correct me if I'm wrong, but both are inferior to natural arms, so I might as well take the one with the melee advantage? I do have the silver available, so I don't want my wealth to get excessive or else Cassandra will give me more and tougher challenges.

Power claws completely replace the hand, but lower Moving by 8%. So the pawn will have "normal" hands for the most part, but will move slower and have a stronger (unarmed) melee attack.

That's better than wooden hands, IMO. It just depends how you want to spend your silver.

When he came to my colony, he already had a peg leg. Hence why I don't use him for long distance stuff like hauling or hunting.

Would attaching wooden hands or power claws to a pawn raise colony wealth?

If the pawn is missing arms then you will not be able to install a power claw or wooden hand, they need an intact fleshy arm to attach to.

Power claws are pretty useful early game, since they are so cheap and function pretty well as a melee weapon until you get better stuff later in the game. Every item on your map with any value adds that value to colony wealth (building wealth counts as half though), but it requires like 10-20k wealth to increase raid sizes enough to cause an additional enemy of the weakest variety possible to spawn. So to answer the core question, no the 385 silver power claw is not going to make the game more difficult, it will probably make raids easier to deal with. If you decide to gather up 100 power claws though, then you might have an extra enemy to deal with in some raids.

If you had Royalty, then you'd see the option for a 'field hand' which is essentially the same body mod (replaces hand), only it increases spped at growing (or is it harvesting?) and functions as a weapon and slows pawn down. I'm rather fond of them, more so than the power claw... but I've installed many a powerclaw over the years. Just remember that pawn's slower now... :)

No no only unarmed melee, I would suggest combining a power claw with a chain shotgun.Pawns who close in but still, most of the time prefer ranged combat. When ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan they can turn the tide around with their power claw.
