Bait.
I mean I think we all know this thread is bait. But yes, multiple developers use a similar principle, continue developing the same game for a long time and use DLC to fund that development, making each DLC optional so people can grab just what they want and always benefit from the free core updates. Yes, it's great. Yes, it's better than them releasing a "new" game every year with slightly different graphics/mechanics and charging full price for it.
Well, this looks great to me. I guess this is just a conflict of opposing opinions. In my opinion, as a veteran player of '''The Sims 2 and 3''', Rimworld caught my attention mainly for its '''needs''' system, and then I already fell in love with being able to build your bases , being able to travel around the planet, defend yourself, psychic powers, realism, etc... If all the expansions are equally good, I am delighted that Rimwolrd put 100 expansions, because it is much better to pay for this that offers you thousands of hours, than pay $70 every year for a Call of Duty that doesn't innovate at all and give you 4 hours of campaign. What's more, I dare say that Rimworld is a 2D evolution of the Sims and it's much better.
Rimworld + Expansions >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sims 2, Sims 3 and Sims 4 expansions.
