How to kill mechanoids early game?
There are 3 random mechanoids wandering on the map and they are getting close to my colony. What do I do as a tribe?

I only need help with the Pikemen with the needle gun. The scyther got shot enough to be slower than my hunter with a bow.

Flanking with melee is a universally applicable strategy. You can minimise the risk to the flanker with armour or attack animals.

In vanilla play, pikemen are weak to melee. Use cover to get close, or lure them around a corner to you. Those needle guns are deadly, so take as little fire as possible.

If you are playing vanilla expanded... then you are in trouble. Mechs in those mods need much stronger weaponry to hurt at all.

and don't open the cryosleep casket. It may contain a human who has a chance of being aggressive. Wait until the mechs are dead, heal up, THEN open it. With luck you'll have a wounded person or a non-hostile who you could capture and recruit. With bad luck, they could be hostile or just dead.

Elder things just killed one of the pikeman so now there is only a pikeman
If there are Elder Things wandering about the mechanoids are the least of your worries.

simply put: check the description of the mechs. usually the descriptions (and the stats) give you an idea how to tackle them.

pikemen are one-trick-ponies - they are very accurate but compared to lancers lack high dmg and stand no chance in melee. best way to approach them is simply breaking line fo sight and then rush them once they approach or rush them.

Stone clubs and zergrush. syther can be taken down from range.
